The rowing events of Torbay Royal Regatta 2009, the eighth of the ten regattas in the West of England Championships, were abandoned after eighteen of the scheduled twenty-eight races.
Less than ideal conditions worsened as the regatta progressed and major problems launching boats from Hollicombe Beach combined with time delays due to the entanglement of a safety boat with the finish boat saw events curtailed early.
The main event saw Dart-Totnes all but surrender the Mens Senior B Fours Championship to Exeter after taking on water and sinking on the finish line.
Torquay entries: Ladies Novice Fours 1st Row Over; Mens Senior C Fours, Mens Senior C Double Sculls 3rd, Ladies Novice Double Sculls 3rd.
