ANNUAL CLUB SUPPER The 2008 Torquay Rowing Club 'Club Supper' was held on Saturday 4th October at the Gleneagles Hotel Torquay. The hotel has the honour for inspiring the idea for the TV programme Faulty Towers. The Hotel no longer lives up to that name as the food and service was very good unlike the promptness of some members who arrived late for dinner causing a huge embarrassment to club officials hosting the representative from the West of England Amateur Rowing Association Colin Myrone and his wife Jenny from Plymouth A.R.C. After the dinner Club Captain Steve Maw presented club awards to Polly Eldridge for Most Improved Oarswomen, Chris Ackers for Most Improved Oarsman, Maurice Dunn and Ian Wilson jointly for The Most Successful Rower and Jamie Dawe received the Oarsome trophy for his persistence in demonstrating to all, every time he takes the single scull to the water, that he has mastered the Capsize drill to perfection. The club were later entertained by many of the club members showing what richness of talent lies within the club off the water singing Karaoke !!!!
